At 21:22 on March 15, 2026, the Long March 6A carrier rocket successfully lifted off from the Taiyuan Satellite Launch Center, accurately delivering the Yaogan-50 02 remote-sensing satellite into its preset orbit. The launch mission achieved complete success.
Developed under the leadership of the Shanghai Academy of Spaceflight Technology (SAST), the Long March 6A is a new-generation medium-lift carrier rocket featuring a solid-liquid strap-on configuration. It is capable of meeting diverse and high-density launch requirements, including single-satellite missions, as well as multi-satellite launches in series, parallel, stacked, side-mounted, and piggyback configurations. Its sun-synchronous orbit payload capacity is no less than 6.5 tons (at an altitude of 500 kilometers).
Throughout the mission, the team upheld a rigorous, prudent, meticulous, and pragmatic work ethic. Through careful organization and thorough planning, every step of the process underwent detailed inspection and item-by-item confirmation to eliminate any potential risks. In addition, the team adopted a multi-dimensional approach covering awareness, operations, systems thinking, safety responsibility, and collaborative management to strictly control technical risks. Difficult operations, tasks carried out in "small, remote, and dispersed" settings, and error-prone procedures were thoroughly re-examined and addressed through dedicated workshops, with responsibilities clearly assigned to each post. These efforts laid a solid foundation for the complete success of the mission.
This launch marks the 21st flight of the Long March 6A carrier rocket, the 260th launch of Long March series rockets developed by SAST, and the 633rd launch of China's Long March carrier rocket family.
