About Us:National Team for Space Power-Sources, Navigator of Aerospace Propulsion

Shanghai Institute of Space Power-Sources is a space power system research institute under the Eighth Academy of China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation (CASC). It is China's leading integrator of space power systems, primarily engaged in the research, design, manufacturing, and testing of power systems and key equipment for applications including manned spaceflight, lunar exploration, BeiDou navigation, Earth-observation satellites, launch vehicles, and space science missions.

Aligned with national medium- and long-term development plans, the Institute leverages China's first State Key Laboratory of Space Power-Sources as its core strategic asset. It also hosts four national-level R&D platforms and seven provincial/ministerial-level R&D centers, dedicated to advancing the three major technological disciplines of electronic power, physical power, and chemical power. Together, these form an integrated technology innovation platform that combines fundamental research, original innovation, and engineering implementation.

Built upon a solid foundation of aerospace technology and industrial resources, the Institute has for many years been deeply engaged in new energy sectors, accumulating strong technical capabilities and extensive experience. Guided by national strategic directions, it precisely targets emerging industries and future-oriented industrial sectors, focusing on nurturing specialized and sophisticated enterprises. The Institute is strategically expanding into commercial aerospace, low-altitude economy, hydrogen energy, and other frontier fields, and currently oversees four industrial companies. Through deep integration of industry, academia, and research, and driven by continuous innovation, SISP is advancing the high-quality development of aerospace technology applications.

Technological Innovation Capabilities

SISP is home to China's first State Key Laboratory of Space Power-Sources, along with the National International Science and Technology Cooperation Base for Space Power Technology, the National Innovation Talent Training Demonstration Base, the MIIT "Dual-Innovation" Public Service Platform for Power Industry Internet, and seven provincial/ministerial-level R&D centers. Focusing on the three core disciplines of physical power, chemical power, and power control, the Institute has made continuous explorations and innovations, earning over 100 national and provincial/ministerial science and technology awards and holding more than 1,000 patents, providing strong support for the successful completion of major space missions.

Product and Service Capabilities

Satellites:Developed power systems and equipment for over 500 satellites across navigation, communication, remote sensing, scientific exploration, and technology demonstration series.

Launch Vehicles:Supplied zinc-silver batteries and lithium batteries for over 300 launch vehicles, and supported the maiden flights of new-generation rockets including the Long March 5 and Long March 6.

Spacecraft:Provided power systems and equipment for all Shenzhou-series spacecraft, cargo spacecraft, space laboratories, the space station, and the Xuntian space telescope.

Deep Space:Undertaken dozens of power system projects for deep space exploration, aerospace plane, and near-space applications.

Other:Developed a comprehensive power equipment R&D and supply system covering land, sea, air, space, and cyberspace domains, providing mass-produced and serialized products for unmanned systems, special power supplies, and naval vessels.
